Arm Lift Inland Empire
With age and fluctuation in weight the skin on our arms can become loose or fatty, often leading to what some refer to as “flags” or “bat wings”. During the aging process our skin loses elasticity and begins to sag or dangle. Loose or dangling skin can be the cause of insecurity, even the thought of wearing a simple arm-exposing t-shirt can cause anxiety. Dr. Wali’s Inland Empire arm lift or brachioplasty addresses all concerns of excess skin on the arms, reduces arm size and creates a smooth and even contour. Dr. Wali utilizes a number of techniques for removing excess arm skin and scar minimizing. Each technique depends on how much skin exists for removal and where the incisions should be made. Patients with excess fat at the arms will begin with liposuction, during which the fat will be carefully removed and sculpted before the removal of extra skin. To further discuss your arm lift surgery with at Plastic Surgery SoCal and what kind of scar-minimizing procedure you would like to undergo, contact Dr. Wali today.
Reasons for consider Arm Lift Surgery
- You have lost a massive amount of weight and are left with excess upper arm skin
- Your weight is normal but you feel your underarm shape is dropping
During your consultation with Dr. Wali he will discuss the different options and techniques used for anesthesia, the type of anesthesia used will depend on the extent of the surgery. For those with excess fat at the arms, the surgery will begin with liposuction to remove the necessary excess fat cells. Dr. Wali removes the fat from the arms and carefully sculpts the area before he moves on to the next stage of the procedure which is the actual arm lift surgery. The day prior to the day of surgery Dr. Wali will assess where to mark the arms for incision. Incisions will be made at the underarms or along the inside of the upper arms, options and preferences will be discussed during the pre-surgery appointment. After the liposculpture is completed Dr. Wali uses the markings made prior to surgery, to remove excess skin. The skin is then re-draped and closed. Dr. Wali applies a multi-layered technique to close the skin in order to minimize scarring and ensure that the scar is as thin and invisible as possible. Dr. Wali and his team at Plastic Surgery SoCal will apply a compression garment to the arms at the completion of surgery and direct you in how to remove it every 4 hours until your first visit back to the office.
Following your procedure you will experience the moderate pain and discomfort associated with surgery. It is important to take the medication prescribed to and follow the post-surgery instructions provided by Dr. Wali and his staff. You will be coached in depth by the team prior to surgery but should expect walking around with assistance and limited use of arms after surgery. Rather than using your arms to lift yourself focus on using your abdominal muscles to get up. On the day of surgery be sure to drink lots of fluids and advance your diet slowly. On the first day after surgery Dr. Wali will suggest that you walk around as much as possible and actively avoid lying in bed for prolonged periods of time so as not to become stiff and to promote blood flow throughout the body. Again, follow the instructions referring to the first day after surgery and remember to remove your compression garment every 4 hours while you are awake. During the next week you should be walking as much as possible. The office team at Plastic Surgery SoCal will be checking in regularly during the first week to answer any questions and to check on your recovery. If you feel any need to call outside of regular check up please feel free to call the office with any questions or concerns.
